In industrial environments workers safety may be a concern regarding exposure to elevated electromagnetic fields. Some of these industries are: manufacturing, research & development, electric power industry and electrical test laboratories. For example manufacturing industries that manufacture parts for electric utilities may have LV/MV/HV test simulation cages and power supply sources (pictured above). Test simulation cages are typically used to test parts before being sold and shipped out into the field, the parts may have to pass a test to verify they can withstand a certain amount of voltage/current. Workers that are operating the test cages are usually standing at a computer test station/HIPOT tester that is just outside the cage within feet away from test simulation source which can ramp up to several thousand volts and up to hundreds of amps emitting high electric & magnetic fields exposing the operator. Testing and measurements are based upon IEEE C95 guidelines.
