Note: The Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) serves as the final arbiter for Emergency Responder Radio Communication System (ERRCS) compliance, possessing the ultimate authority to approve or reject a building’s system. If background level coverage from nearby public safety towers is insufficient, an Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement System (ERCES), BDA/DAS may be required by the AHJ along with certified backup power (we do not sell or install these systems, but we can refer local Fire companies that install and maintenance these systems).
Building Owner Responsibilities
- Mandatory Coverage: Ensure 99% coverage in critical areas and 95% in general areas.
- System Maintenance: Maintain the ERRCS/DAS system in high-operating condition at all times.
- Annual Testing: Complete and document annual functional testing to verify signal strength.
- Permitting & Certification: Ensure all boosters/amplifiers are FCC certified and locally permitted.
- Power Backup: Provide a certified secondary power source (battery/generator) for 24-hour runtime.
